Job Purpose

The CAPEX Specialist is responsible for supporting the planning, tracking, execution, and financial governance of capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects. This role ensures capital projects are properly authorized, documented, monitored, and reported in accordance with company policies, financial controls, and internal governance standards. The position works closely with Engineering, Finance, Operations, Procurement, and Project Managers to ensure accurate forecasting, cost control, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, and HSE standards.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support the end-to-end CAPEX process, including project initiation, approval, tracking, and closeout
  • Maintain accurate CAPEX budgets, forecasts, and spend tracking against approved authorizations
  • Review and validate capital requests for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal policies
  • Monitor project expenditures and identify variances, risks, and cost overruns
  • Prepare CAPEX reports, dashboards, and summaries for leadership and Finance review
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Engineering to ensure timely updates to project status and cost forecasts
  • Support annual CAPEX planning and budgeting cycles
  • Ensure proper capitalization, documentation, and audit readiness for all capital projects
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial close activities related to capital assets
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

 

Background and Experience

  • Associate Degree in Computer Science OR equivalent experience (2 years’ experience in an operating chemical plant)
  • Must be able to read SOPs and other manuals 
  • Knowledge of SAP Project systems, processes, and appilcations.
  • Must be able to work in an empowered workgroup with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work as a team player

Education Requirements: High School diploma or GED
