Job purpose 
With a participative management style, provide leadership, planning, coordination, development and coaching of the multi-skilled, multi-disciplined Mechanical Reliability Teams. The incumbent is responsible for the site-wide Mechanical Reliability, Maintenance, Construction processes at a level that achieves maximum safe economical reliability of operating equipment, and its related process systems. The incumbent is charged to ensure Company Site Maintenance services and Site Contractor Contract Services are cost effective, reliable, and in compliance with effected regulations and are performed by highly qualified employees.

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, and HSE standards.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 25 - 30 maintenance personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and effective execution of maintenance activities across the site. 
• Serve as primary site contact for approximately 80 resident contract maintenance and construction services, ensuring safe execution, performance management, and cost control of contractor resources.  
• Ensure maintenance activities are executed in compliance with applicable government regulations, industry standards, company policies, and site procedures, including permit to work and safe work practices. 
• Lead the execution of site preventive and predictive maintenance programs, ensuring maintenance activities are completed in accordance with Reliability strategies, asset plans, and operational priorities.
• Drive workforce capability through training, competency development, and effective allocation of maintenance resources aligned to site maintenance needs and operational priorities. 
• Lead and reinforce a strong safety culture through visible leadership, field engagement, and reinforcement of safe work behaviors and practices.
• Ensure timely execution of corrective actions resulting from RCFAs and other failure investigations led by Technical Services.
• Participate in the site budgeting process to ensure maintenance and construction resource requirements are effectively planned and managed. 
• Maintain a qualified maintenance workforce and organizational structure through effective staffing, skills management, and off hours coverage, ensuring optimal labor utilization in coordination with site leadership.
• Establish and monitor maintenance KPIs covering safety, cost, schedule compliance, execution quality, equipment availability, and productivity, while driving continuous improvement in maintenance work processes, including planning and scheduling discipline, backlog management, contractor performance, and execution quality.
• Support site quality system requirements through effective maintenance practices and compliance with established procedures. 
• Perform other duties as assigned.


Key interactions
Internal: Engages with all levels of site leadership, production, technical services, and maintenance teams to support safe and efficient plant operations, maintenance execution, and construction activities.
External: Contract maintenance and construction organizations, equipment vendors, and service providers. Serves as primary site interface for contractor management, performance, and execution coordination.


Notable Working Conditions: Primarily office based with routine exposure to an operating chemical manufacturing facility. Regular field presence is required to support maintenance, operational, and safety activities. Position may require climbing stairs and ladders, working in varying weather conditions, and the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). Occasional travel may be required.

Education requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent maintenance leadership experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Minimum Requirements: 
• Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in maintenance, engineering, operations, or related technical functions within a chemical, petrochemical, refining, or industrial manufacturing environment. 
• Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience managing maintenance, operations, engineering, or technical personnel. 
• Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams including both supervisory and craft personnel. 
• Experience managing contract maintenance and construction resources in a manufacturing environment. 
• Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM), mechanical integrity principles, and applicable regulatory requirements. 
• Experience in 24/7 continuous operating environments.
