Job Purpose
The Process Operator will have responsibility for working safely and effectively as a business partner in the production unit to achieve the goals of the manufacturing team. This includes monitoring, maintaining and controlling equipment and processes throughout the unit based on requirements stated in related permits, Standard Operating Procedures and Daily Operating Instructions.
The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, and HSE standards.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe work environment for the operation of the unit
- Operate the unit within established controls and parameters
- Operates units in a manner that supports full environmental compliance and minimizes environmental impact
- Participate as a partner with maintenance and other operations personnel in unit startups and shutdowns, and management of major and minor maintenance tasks
- Respond to unit upsets to prevent escalation of potential issues
- Report and investigate incidents or issues of concern for safety, health, environmental or production requirements
- Work 12-hour rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends
- Must be able to work overtime when required, including call-outs
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Desire to excel and achieve exceptional results
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to serve on the Emergency Response Team (3 years required following hire)
- Perform other job duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
Preferred
- Associate Degree in Process Technology or a minimum of two years’ relevant experience in a petrochemical manufacturing facility/refinery or two (2+) years of military experience
Competencies and Skills
- Functional ability in Microsoft Office software tools: Word and Excel
- Proficient math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for the requirement to communicate with other process operators and staff personnel (fluent in English)
- Must be able to read Standard Operating Procedures and other manuals (English)
- Mechanical aptitude
