Job Purpose
Provide engineering design, cost estimates, project planning, and technical specifications for capital projects, plant modifications, and facility improvements within a chemical manufacturing environment. Work closely with Plant Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Project Management teams to define project scope, priorities, schedules, and execution strategies. Lead and coordinate engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, including design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and company standards.
The position will act in accordance with the Group's Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategies, as well as company policies, engineering standards, HSE requirements, and applicable industry regulations, supported by the organization's technology platforms and management systems.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Define project scope, develop cost estimates, and provide detailed engineering designs for plant additions, modifications, and capital improvement projects.
- Coordinate engineering, design, and drafting activities performed by internal resources, consultants, and contractors.
- Manage project budgets by monitoring costs, approving expenditures, administering contracts, and evaluating and negotiating contractor and vendor proposals.
- Develop and maintain project schedules by evaluating project requirements, forecasting resource needs, and coordinating project execution activities.
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and engineering expertise to plant operations and maintenance teams.
- Evaluate project feasibility, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend innovative engineering and technology solutions.
- Ensure compliance with company engineering standards, industry best practices, Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements, and applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Assist in maintaining and updating plant engineering standards and procedures and participate in company technical committees as required.
- Prepare technical specifications for equipment and services, evaluate vendor bids, select equipment, and support procurement activities.
- Prepare Capital Appropriation Requests (AR’s) and provide project cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting to management.
- Monitor construction activities in the field to verify compliance with design specifications, safety requirements, and project schedules.

- Mixture of office and chemical plant as necessary.
Education Requirements
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or an engineering degree with applicable project engineering experience
Minimum Requirements
- 5-6 years of project engineering or plant engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing environment..
- Knowledge of project management principles, budgeting, scheduling, and contractor management.
- Familiarity with PSM, MOC, PHA, OSHA requirements, and applicable environmental regulations.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
- Experience in chemical plant operations.
- Proficiency in Plant Engineering and Project Management.
Competencies and Skill
- Effective oral and written communications skills
- Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint
- SAP PS Module Experience
- Understanding of industry codes and standards, including ASME, ANSI, NFPA, API, ISA, and Process Industry Practices (PIP).
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements and implementation.
