Job purpose

To improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of plant rotating equipment through the application of engineer expertise in providing low cost solutions to maintenance challenges.

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, and HSE standards.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

• Develop and promote new maintenance technologies.
• Develop maintenance procedures to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and minimize repair costs.
• Support efforts to ensure that plant wide rotating equipment standards are reviewed and updated.
• Lead team efforts to solve complex rotating equipment problems and improve reliability.
• Maintain bills of material and ensure proper inventory stocking levels of critical and non-critical rotating equipment.
• Assist Planner with creating work plans for critical equipment.
• Responsible for daily activities of the rotating craftsmen.
• Work with Maintenance trainer to build and maintain a strong training program for the crafts.
• Perform quality control and manage hold points on field work.
• Audit and make recommendations to improve craft skills and procedures.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Key interactions

Internal: Daily interactions with Machinists to offer insight and direction. Work closely with planners, Maintenance Leads & Operations

External: 3rd party contractors and/or vendors as appropriate

Notable Working Conditions: Mixture of office and chemical plant environment. May have to work overtime when there is problems in the maintenance department.

Education requirements: 

• High School Education or equivalent

Language requirements: English

Background and experience:  

• Minimum of ten years of Maintenance Craft or related experience.
• Significant training or education within Rotating Equipment Standards

DESIRED:

• Proficient knowledge of PC desktop computer programs; Microsoft Outlook (email, calendar, etc.), Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Project, SAP, etc.).
• Expertise in the development of predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
• Advanced experience working with various types of rotating equipment.

Competencies and skills: 

• Advanced knowledge of computer system to be proficient with the computerized PM Inspection Program.
• Ability to effectively communicate through written correspondence.
• Advanced knowledge in rotating equipment technology
• Results orientated, self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as lead/participate on teams.
